Attributes:Error
A rare caption error and one of the toughest cards in the set. American League pitcher 'Slow Joe' Doyle was mistakenly captioned N.Y. NAT'L - apparently after his photo was confused with N.Y. Giants star Larry Doyle. The error was caught and the NAT'L removed to create the common N.Y. version, leaving only a handful of the error, all with the Piedmont 350 back.
Confirmed with 1 of 40 backs. Which ones, and what is known about the rest, is below.
- 1 confirmed
- 1 possible
- 9 probably not printed
- 29 not printed
All 40 backs are listed, including those this subject was never printed with — a back that cannot exist is shown as such rather than left out, which is the difference between “no” and “nobody checked”.
